Nokia E50

Review Nokia E50

The Nokia E50 Business Device is a bar-style monoblock quad-band smartphone from Nokia announced May 18, 2006 as part of the E-Series, intended primarily for the corporate business market. The first things you will notic is the high class material used, the bright display and the thin and ergonomic shape. E50 is a very solid phone and has no gaps between parts. The battery cover is made of real metal! You have to agree with gsmarena when they say "the phone seems unbreakable".

It uses the third edition of the Series 60 user-interface (S60v3) and the Symbian operating system version 9.1. It is not binary compatible with software compiled
for earlier versions of the Symbian operating system. It includes sophisticated e-mail support for Nokia’s Intellisync Wireless Email, BlackBerry.

The Nokia E50 comes with a highly manageable phone book, notepad, alarm clock, timer, calculator & calendar. The phone has a automatic key guard & comes with terminal management security which works as a security management device.

Connect, Visto Mobile, Activesync Mail for Exchange, and Altexia, along with the ability to view Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel attachments, and PDF documents but it cannot be used for editing these.

Device to device synchronisation is possible with Data transfer application. Features include EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0, a 1280 × 960 pixels (1.3 megapixel) camera, a MicroSD memory-card slot, and digital music player functionality.

The E50 also has a new application called Teams that brings basic team working to your phone. The Teams application allows you to set up a team with people from your adress book. You can then set up conference calls, send group messages, use push to talk (Walkie Talkie / PoC) between team members, and share web bookmarks.

Gaming

The user can pl
ay multi player games by using a Bluetooth connection or an infra red connection. The phone comes with a Pro Tour Golf game preinstalled & the phone can play Java or Symbian games which can be downloaded.

Lauch E Series

Lauch E Series

The Nokia Eseries consists of business-oriented smartphones, with emphasis on enhanced connectivity and support for corporate e-mail push services.

On October 12, 2005, Nokia announced what the company refers to as the E-Series, consisting of the three mobile phones, the Nokia E60, Nokia E61 and Nokia E70.

On May 18, 2006, Nokia announced the addition of the E50 to the series, which it refers to as a "business device" rather than a "smartphone".

On February 12, 2007, Nokia announced the addition of three new devices to the series; E61i, E65 and E90.

On April 11, 2008, Nokia Australia has advised that the E61i will be discontinued in May 2008 and be replaced by a more featured but smaller E71.

Connectivity with Computers

Nokia provides the Nokia PC Suite that allows synchronization and transfer of data, calendars, contacts, and more between the phone and a Windows PC.

Mac users can access the data on a Eseries phone using a bluetooth connection. Synchronizing addresses and calendars is done using iSync. Some Nokia phones are supported natively, some require a iSync plugin from Nokia.
